Administrative Professionals Week

ADMIN PROFESSIONALS WEEK

April 22-26, 2019

Administrative professionals are crucial to the everyday operations in a variety of industries. They’re often the unsung heroes of the office, carrying out challenging tasks and providing administrative support that allows the rest of us to focus on our jobs.

In honor of their efforts, the International Association of Administrative Professionals has created a week, aptly named Administrative Professionals Week, for the rest of us to recognize all the hard work they do.

History behind the week

This celebratory occasion has been around for longer than you probably think. It dates all the way back to 1952 when the National Secretaries Association (now the International Association of Administrative Professionals) created National Secretaries Week with the help of public relations executive, Harry Klemfuss, and a group of product manufactures. After successfully campaigning for national recognition from the government, then U.S. Secretary of Commerce Charles Sawyer designated the first week of recognition to take place from June 1 to 7 of 1952. Today the occasion is typically celebrated in late April.
